Day 21 – Captives and Salvation by Faith

[Rahab said] “And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.” Joshua 2:11

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;

to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. – Isaiah 61:1-3

Pray that God would reveal the truth about grace. In the story above, a prostitute (and her family) are the only ones that escape the wrath of God. Why? Was it because she was a good person and followed God’s laws? No, but she believed God and was saved by faith. Pray that God would reveal that salvation is not by works but by faith in the sacrifice and power of Jesus.

Pray also for those that have been taken captive (or live in an occupied city). Pray that God would cause them to “melt with fear” for him and not just with the rulers of the city. Pray that like Rahab that they would truly see who the Lord is and serve him. Pray that would fear God above all else. Pray that the Lord would set them free.

  1. Dear Father, thank You for Psalm 100 which calls us to “shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth…worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God.” All praise, honor and glory are Yours. I am reminded of Jericho when You called Your people to march around the walls seven times then to blow the trumpet and shout, and You would bring the walls down. Father, we can’t do that physically, but by prayer we march around all those captive to ISIS and Islam; by prayer we blow our trumpets and shout for the walls of the stronghold which holds them captive to come toppling down. We ask Father that Your Spirit would reveal the Lord Jesus Christ to their hearts, that they would see You and know that You are God. Then, may they, as Psalm 100 says, also enter Your gates and courts with thanksgiving and praise. Lord, more and more are joining ISIS. Yes Lord, come in glory and power and free the captives. In Jesus Name

  2. Dear Father, your ways are above and beyond us. Your Word will not return to you empty. It will do what you want. You win. So why are we afraid of human beings? The children of men are only grass; they’ll wither and die. That’s what Isaiah 55 and 51 say. We believe you, Lord. Please send your Word like rain and snow to these isis-infested areas. Let it do what you want and accomplish what you determine. Please save thousands of muslims today. Thank you for your Word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  3. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;

    to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. – Isaiah 61:1-3
    Father my prayer is that the captives and the captors will be shaken by You. That they will se the enormous gift that Yoy want to offer them: salvation from our own way of trembling for the devil and his power. That they will cease to conform to the ways of the world end the ways of our own knowing. that they will surrender to You and know in their livess the transforming power of Your salvation through Your son Jesus christ.

  4. Dear Father, the evil one terrorizes his own forces. Their defeat at Ramallah has ended up in their killing their own members as a threat. Please use this to open the eyes of the members of isis and those who are thinking of joining them. Let them see that they have no value to their demonic god. Let them see the truth of Jesus and his love for each of them. The contrast is so stark! Give these underlings courage and opportunity to escape from isis and islam. Bring them to safety, both physical and spiritual. Thank you for those you will deliver today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  5. Lord show your power to these people that they may fear you and seek to serve you.
    Lord may we have confidence in your grace that will enable us to pray big prayers with boldness.

  6. Dear Father, we learned last night that there is a muslim training camp 10 miles from us, here, in our neighborhood. I shouldn’t pray any differently, whether isis is here or in the Middle East, so please, Holy Spirit, pray through me. I’m not handling this news very well. Please forgive me. I declare that you love and your promises are true and completely unaffected by geography. Bring these muslims here and everywhere to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Please. Thank you that your strength never fails. We praise you regardless of what we see or even think we see. All we need is you. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  7. Dear Father, you have established a pattern of always doing what the world (and even your own people) does not expect. You are amazing. You send down fire at Elijah’s prayer; you send your Son as a baby in a feed trough. You are good, and your mercy and love endure forever. We give you thanks, dear Father, for what you will do today. Thank you for the souls you will snatch from islam. Thank you for the unexpected and unnoticed miracles you will do. Please give us eyes to see and hearts to believe, trust, and wait for you. We give you praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  8. Abba Father, We pray for the terrorists to see visions of Your Great Plan for their lives. The meaning of Life is to increase the Light given to us within the being of the Father through the Son, who came in the flesh as the Word which builds our Faith in the Faithfulness of our Creator. The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.” Shabbat Shalom to all the Nations. We do not ask to be taken out of this world but that You keep us from the evil one. There is a season and a reason for every purpose under the sun (Ecclesiastes 3:1). May we all go to the well and drink richly of the Holy Spirit, Rauch HaKodesh. We call forth rivers of Living Waters from Your Throne to flow from our bellies into everyone around us as a never ending river of our Father’s Love cleansing all those that we come into contact with. For whatever is Born of our Father overcomes the world. And this victory that has overcome the world is our faith. Praise to Abba Father for He has heard our cry for Mercy, Protection and Justice in the Mighty Name of Yehoshua. Yehmein

  9. God of glory pour out your glory on the nations of the world. We lift up the world and pray for world peace, we pray for peace in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan. We specially pray for Christians who are persecuted in these nations. We worship you lord and lift up our praises to you, let your glory cover these nations as the waters cover the sea. May principalities, powers of darkness, inimical powers be destroyed through our highest praises and let your blood be a scourge to Satan and his cohorts. in Jesus mighty name I pray. Alleluia.

  10. Dear Father, thank you that we can see your big picture. We know you win. We see your glory and your triumph in Revelation 21 and 22, and we cheer you on with such eagerness! But Lord, what I don’t see is how to pray for the day and hour we’re in now. You’re in control of everything–isis, Syria, Russians, Iranians, Israel, Afghanistan, China, our own miserable country, your persecuted church, Pastor Saeed–so much more! Would you please pray through us? I quote Jehoshaphat: “We have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” We declare you are God, and we ask that your Kingdom would come and your will would be done today. We praise you, for your mercy endures forever. Thank you for replacing our fear with your presence and your peace, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  11. Dear Father, Rahab told the spies that she knew the Israelites were going to be victorious, and her people were terrified at the thought. I pray that is true today for ISIS and all muslims, because the players in this current drama are the same–Israel and those who hate her. And you are the same. You never change. Please cause ISIS members to see that and come to you, knowing as Rahab did that you are God in heaven above and on the earth below. Please let them surrender without further misery and loss of life. We surround every ISIS camp and gathering place with your Spirit of love and fear of The Lord. We come against the lying spirits that tell ISIS they will win. We declare your victory, Lord! Thank you for what you will do today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  12. Father surprise us with Rahab-type of faith amongst isis members, for your grace is abundant where sin rampages. We hear of your faithfulness in answering our prayers each day, and we acknowledge and believe that no other god can take what belongs to You and You alone.

  13. Dear Father, you sit above the circle of the earth, and we are like grasshoppers. There is no one like you. Our ways are not hidden from you. Please move in these geographical areas infested with demons and demonic influences. Please open the hearts of the people, whether they are muslim, Christian, or anything else. Please deliver your people from fear. Speak comfort to your people. Please deliver all the others from the evil one. Thank you for your perfect plan that cannot be thwarted. Be glorified today, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  14. Father,
    Thank You that you love us no matter what we have done. May Your grace abound so much more than sin in the lives of those held captive by the lies of the enemy. May Your tender mercies be on each Isis member. Flood their beings with Your love Father. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

  15. Oh Lord, I ask You to reveal to ISIS members that only by grace are we saved. Show them that You are the only way to salvation. Speak to them in dreams and visions. May Your mighty hand move among them.

  16. Shine Your Light in the darkness Oh Lord! May the blind eyes and darkened minds of the members of ISIS be opened to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ! Amen

  17. Lord, I agree with the prayers of your servant Mary Ann. And I declare again and again that nothing is impossible with you. We lift up your name with honor and claim the authority you have given us to breakdown the walls keeping the members of isis captives of the evil one, blinding their eyes from seeing your light. Let there be your light of salvation Lord, in Jesus name.

  18. Dear Father, now particularly during this month of ramadan please let your presence and your truth prevail in all areas where isis has established its presence. Please let these unsaved people see that your hand of protection is on your people. Do what only you can do and intervene. Give direction to your people as you did with Joshua. Save muslims as you did Rahab. Glorify the name of Jesus today. Thank you in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  19. Dear Father, please let the fear of you so overwhelm these terrorists that they are unable to literally move to kill or destroy. Please protect your people throughout the nations where isis is trying to establish itself or wreak havoc. Let your Kingdom come, Lord. Let your will be done, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  20. Dear Father, thank you for the opportunity to pray by surrounding these geographical places with your Spirit and your Word. We invite your Spirit to move freely in all these areas and to collapse the walls constructed by the evil one. We break down walls of terror, fear, lies, ignorance, arrogance, hopelessness and all other demonic constructs. We build faith, hope, love, and joy in these places where all of these gifts would be so unexpected. Come in your glory and power and bring change to the captors and captives alike. Glorify your Son in ways beyond what we could ask or even think. We cheer you on, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
