Day 20 – Self-Control

Speak these verses over them:

A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. – Proverbs 25:28

Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:6-7

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. – Romans 7:18-25

Pray that they would have self-control and that they would not give into the temptations of the devil. Pray today that this being the culmination of the fruits of the spirit would be manifest in their lives. We know that we can do nothing apart from Christ so pray that the Holy Spirit would flow so freely in their lives that they could exercise self-control over all the temptations listed in Galatians: “sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.”

“Day 20 – Self-Control”

  1. Dear Lord I pray that you will rescue these children of yours and bestow the gift of Self Control on each member of ISIS so that they see that all they could ever hope for or desire can only be found in You. May they draw closer to You, walk with You, talk with You and learn the Joy, the Peace and the Love that can only be found in You. May they learn to exercise self control over all worldly desires so that they can experience to the full the wonder of a surrendered life to You. Amen

  2. Dear Lord I will continue to speak The Name of Jesus into the hearts and minds and souls of all the members of ISIS, so only can they be transformed by the renewing of their minds. At the Name of Jesus the devil and all evil flees and I yearn to see them all set free. May they discover the wonder of self discipline and self control, that it is not a bondage but a freedom, a freedom which will allow them to live life to the full when they walk each day with Jesus; when they learn to abide in Him and invite Him to abide in them. I love my ISIS brothers and sisters and long to see them live life to the full with Jesus as their Saviour. Amen

  3. I speak the Name of Jesus into the hearts and minds and souls of every single member of ISIS, so that He can and will transform each one of them by the renewing of their minds. I pray that they will exercise self-control and cease to use the weapons of the world, envy, resentment, anger, and by the Power of the Holy Spirit they will learn to use the Weapons of Divine Power – Prayer, Love, Peace and Self Control. Bring Your order into their lives Oh Lord and may they learn that self discipline and self control in Your Service brings a Peace and a Joy far beyond their imagination. Then they too will be able to do so much in Your Service as they reflect the Beauty of Your Kingdom all around them. Amen

  4. God you are in control. Almighty father your will be done. Asking that isis members surrender to your will and come to live for Jesus Christ

  5. Dear Father, please forgive us our own sins and lack of self control as we come before You today. We do not want our prayers to be hindered by our own sinfulness. Reveal Your truth and bring conviction of sin to the Muslim world today. Build Your church in their midst for Your namesake! Amen! In the Name of Jesus Christ, amen!

  6. Father, the members of ISIS are running a fruitless race, spurred on by an evil agenda based on hate and lies. Their race will end in their own destruction, not the prize they have been led to believe. Father, cause them to see You, stop them in their tracks. Reveal to them the truth of salvation through Jesus Christ. Give them courage to give their hearts to Jesus, and self-control to enable them to continually choose life, not death as their way of life. Thank You, Farher, for those You will save today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  7. Dear Father, you are in total control and you are with us no matter what. Help us walk that out today as reality. We surrender control to you. Please bring isis and all muslims to that place of surrender to your control and acceptance of Jesus as their only true God and Savior. We praise you for what you will do today to demonstrate your love and power, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  8. Father, we pray that by Your spirit, every thought which exalts itself above Your ways will be cut off as we learn self control. Help us to not give ourselves over to sin.

May self control reign in all of us, not just ISIS.

  9. Dear Father, thank you for this day that you have made. You control time, days, seasons. Let this be the day that isis and all muslims come to their right mind, wrest control of their thoughts from the demonic lies of islam, and turn to Jesus. Please save millions of muslims today, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  10. Dear Father, thank you that civilization as we know it still goes on–for now at least. In spite of race riots and terrorism, you are still holding back your righteous judgment. Such phenomenal self-control, Lord! Thank you for mercy, and for restraining yourself. Please give us the grace to repent and turn from our wicked ways. “There is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Please help. Only you can deliver us from our blindness, selfishness, stupidity, idolatry, pride, and depravity. Please do that, Father, for muslims and all the rest of us. Do whatever you have to do to bring us all to salvation through Jesus alone. Help us to choose to surrender to you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  11. Dear Father, thank you for your love this morning. As the light gradually overtakes darkness please let your truth overtake the lies of islam. Help muslims, particularly isis members to stop their brainwashed thinking long enough to see truth–to have the self-control necessary to look at their beliefs honestly. Give them the ability to see that people are created by you to live in freedom and love. Give them the motivation to choose Jesus. Thank you for saving millions of muslims today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  12. Dear Father, thank you for the reports that isis is losing ground in Iraq. Let them see they are fighting a losing battle against the true living God. As they are in confusion and disarray please give them some moments of self control and reflection to choose Jesus. Show them truth. Make a real encounter with you unavoidable, regardless of where they are. Please protect your people of the Cross and your people Israel. Please bring comfort to those affected by the attack at Istanbul, and please stop other plots for destruction as ramadan ends. May this be the last time that season is ever observed, Lord. We glorify you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  13. Living Jesus, in you , I chose to hold the hand of those who are being destroyed by their own lack of self control.
    Lord, have mercy.
    Christ , have mercy.
    Lord, have mercy.

    Amen.

  14. Dear Father, thank you for the power of your Holy Spirit and you grace to give us strength and courage for self control and renewal of our minds. Please bless isis and all muslims with that same anointing and grace so they will see their need for Jesus. Give them the desire and determination to choose your truth. Thank you for those you will save today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  15. Heavenly Father
We lift the Isis people to you once again in Jesus’ name. Please do let them have self-control and please do not let them give into the temptations of the devil. This self control being the culmination of the fruits of the spirit let it be manifest in their lives. We can do nothing apart from Christ so I pray that the Holy Spirit would flow so freely in their lives that they could exercise self-control over all the temptations listed in Galatians: “sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.”
Thank you Lord that your grace extends to these people as you say: `While we were yet sinners Christ died for us´ so Christ died also for the Isis people that they would see Jesus for who he is God´s Wonderful Son.
I pray these things in Jesus name
    Amen

  16. Dear Father, the song today is asking you for grace to focus on you, like a tree planted by the water that brings forth its fruit in its season. I pray that you would do whatever is necessary to save isis members today. Please work in the minds of those making attack plans today. Please disturb their thoughts with thoughts of Jesus, of your peace, of real beauty–thoughts so opposite to what they usually think that they stop and seriously want to change; then help them have the self control to really come to Jesus. Thank you for those you will save today, both physically and spiritually, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
