Raqqa is the main ISIS stronghold in Syria. It is referred to as the birthplace of ISIS. It means swamp or bog.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. – Psalm 40:1-5

Pray that God would draw those in Raqqa “up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set [their] feet upon a rock [Jesus!] Pray for God to rescue them; apart from him pulling them out they are lost! Speak this Psalm over this city seven times and pray for God to bring it pass. He will put a new song in their mouths!

“Day 25 – Pray for Raqqa, Syria”

  1. Dear Lord I pray that you will set all the people in Raqqa free, the members of ISIS and the oppressed population, because then they will be free indeed. Free them from the chains that bind them to the enemy. May they devote themselves to Your commandments and keep on obeying Your instructions. I pray that they will live as people who are free and not use their freedom as a cover up for evil, but live as servants of God. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus will set them free from the law of sin and death. Amen

  2. Dear Lord, I shout Your Name JESUS over Syria because there is no other name under heaven given among men by which they must be saved. May they know deep in their hearts that You are their Lord and their salvation – the stronghold of their lives and the very utterance of Your Name will cast out all of their fears because Your Promise is that all who call on Your Name will be saved. Amen.

  3. Heavenly Father have mercy on all these poor people in Raqqa who are the innocent victims of this war of terror. These are your children Lord; they are precious in Your sight; they are precious in our sight and we pray that they will all be set free from the chains that bind them to the enemy. We bring them all before You Lord – the weary and the wounded, the fragmented and the fractured, the stressed and the shattered, the broken- hearted and the broken spirited, the broken promises and broken dreams, the broken relationships and shattered families. Christ of the Cross we bring them to You because You alone can make them whole. In the Power of Your Cross deliver them from this evil and lead them into a life of peace – Your Peace. The Peace that passes all understanding Amen

  4. Dear Lord, I pray that you will set these poor, suffering people free. They have suffered long and hard. Our prayers are forever with them. Only You can bring an end to this horrendous war oh Lord. Only You can transform the perpetrators of evil by the renewing of their minds. Lord we cry out to You to set the people of Syria free. We sing your praises loudly over this land and we smother this land and all its people with the Love of Jesus, The Name at which the devil flees. Amen

  5. Dear Lord, I give You thanks for the defeat of ISIS in Raqqa and that they have now left this city. I bring the people there who have survived before You with thanksgiving and pray that You will motivate the nations of the world to assist the people of Raqqa to rebuild their ruined city. Let this be an end to their suffering and may we honour these brave and courageous people with our prayers and every kind of material help. We give You thanks and the Glory Oh Lord for setting these people free. Amen

  6. Our Father in Heaven Holy is Your Name, may Your Kingdom come and Your Will be done in Raqqa as in Heaven. Give all those who live there today their daily needs; forgive them their sins and enable them to forgive those who sin against them; lead them all away from temptation and deliver them from every kind of evil because Yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever Amen

  7. Dear Lord, We give You thanks and praise for answering our prayers and liberating Raqqa. Bless the people of Raqqa and help and empower them to rebuild their city as a place of peace and love and joy. We pray too that those members of ISIS who have turned from their wicked ways and are seeking to follower You Lord will be motivated to give their time to re-building this city. May we see many more miracles all over Syria as You raise up Your people, Your faithful followers who seek Your Will and then seek to obey Your Will. Amen

  8. Dear Lord, as I bring Raqqa before you today, I pray for the souls of all the ISIS fighters who are fleeing from Syria in the hope that they will be able to return to their homelands. I bring these disillusioned fighters before you now Lord as ask that You forgive them and move them to forgive those who have sinned against them. Thank You that they are now being led away from temptation and I pray that you will continue to deliver them from evil. Restore this land Oh Lord and bring Your Peace to the people there because Yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory in Raqqa and every inch of Syria, now and forever.Amen

Give everyone in Raqqa today their daily needs, lead them all away from temptation and deliver them all from evil because Yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory now and forever Amen

  10. Father,
Raqqa, a truly appropriate name Lord as it is a “pit of destruction.” Father, such devastation has occurred in this area that it is truly a pit. So many wounded lives and the people are being killed by ISIS and the government! Father please intervene is this area for Your Name sake as rescue people from the eternal pit of destruction – Hell.
In the powerful name of Jesus, Father remember You promised that none which You give to Jesus will be lost. Draw them out in Your perfect time for the Glory of Your Name!

    Amen!

  11. Dear Father, thank you for another opportunity to pray for this poor city. Please bring your presence and your peace. Take control, Lord. You are sovereign, and no evil can stand against you. Bring life and salvation to those remaining here and clean it up so it will be a fit habitation for those who want to return. Destroy islamic control and influence. Thank you for what you will be doing here, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  12. Dear Father, Nebuchadnezzar was humbled by you and ultimately gave you praise and glory. I pray that you would do the same for isis and all those trying to establish the “caliphate.” Please do whatever you need to do to bring these people to Jesus. Change their hearts, Lord. As Nebuchadnezzar said, all you do is true, all your ways are just, and you are able to cut down those who strut about in their pride. Please protect your people and glorify your great name today in raqqa and throughout the Middle East. Thank you for what you will do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  13. Dear Father, I’m not sure how I missed praying on this page in June or July. I thank you that there has been a bit of good news about isis being weakened in Iraq, but the description about it being like stepping on an ant hill and watching the ants scatter in every direction seems very appropriate. So please bring this city, this demonic stronghold, to Jesus. Please bring it under control of Christians, and not anyone who believes in the demon god of islam, whether they are “good guys” or not. Please bring truth and freedom to all of Iraq; and please thwart the plans of lone-wolf terrorists wherever they are hiding. Thank you for the muslim souls you will save today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  14. Dear Father, I draw near to you because of your Spirit. I take your Word and give you praise. You are the epitome, the greatest, the best. There is none like you–merciful, good, loving, and fearsome. Please lift the heads of those stuck in the darkness of islam. Give them the grace to see and desire you and the truth of your Word. Be their glory. Come and rescue them; teach them to fear you. Bring thousands of muslims to Jesus today, for your glory. Thank you for what you will do today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  15. Loving Father, I pray for all in the city of Raqqa who are being held captive against their wii, whether they be people of the Cross or those who do not yet know Jesus. Please protect their minds and hearts, give them comfort and courage through the Holy Spirit and send Your angels to protect them until they are set free and songs of praise arise to You. I pray especially for protection of all women who have been forced into marriage to Isis leaders, that they will feel Your loving Presence until they are rescued. In The name of Jesus we pray, Amen

  16. Dear Father, your Holy Spirit knows your mind, according to Romans 8:26-27. He “steps in and articulates prayers for us…” You still have innumerable prayers to pray for isis to get those sad, wretched people into the salvation and joy of Jesus. Please don’t let the evil one keep them blinded and trapped in the horrible pit of islam. And please prevent them and other terrorists from harrassing Israel during this Passover season. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the salvation of all those who do not know Jesus as Messiah, Lord, King, and God. Thank you for what you will do today, and for your unending love, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  17. Dear Father, in the heavens or on the earth there is not one like you. That’s the song today. Please shine into raqqa and all of Syria and other lands where islam has suffocated the people in black demonic lies. Bring your light and love. Bring them freedom in Jesus. Please do that today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
