For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. – 2 Corinthians 10:17-18

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. – Philippians 2:3-11

Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. – Proverbs 18:12

Derna has a long history of Islamist radicalism. Marginalized during the Gadhafi era, it contributed more foreign fighters per capita to al Qaeda in Iraq than any other town in the Middle East. It has also provided scores of fighters for ISIS in Syria. This town is known for its pride in being the “most pious town is Libya” Pray that God will reveal to them their true state before God and reveal that no man can boast! Pray that they would take on the humility of Christ that became nothing to save us. Pray that God would transform this place and instead it would send out the most peacemakers for Jesus in the Middle East!

“Day 29 – Libya: Derna Completely Controlled”

  1. Dear Father, you are the Almighty God and we give you praise for your excellent glory. We saw how you brought the highest civilization in today’s world to a total standstill with your snowstorm. Is there any doubt that you are in total control of everything? So we pray that isis members will humble themselves before Jesus today. Let them come and be saved before your judgment falls. We declare: Holy is the Lord Almighty who was and is and is to come. Let your Kingdom come and your will be done today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  2. Lord you bring down the proud and raise up the humble. May your Spirit work in the lives of proud people. Lord bring the humility of repentance. And raise up servant leaders who will transform not this only this town but the country too.

  3. Dear Father, your Word gives us examples from which we can learn, and I’m thinking of Ahab, king of Israel today. He was evil, but he said one intelligent thing in 1 Kings 20:11. He told Ben-Hadad, “He who is putting on his armor shouldn’t boast as if he were taking it off.” The people of Derna boast, but the battle is not over and you will have the final word. You will honor and defend your great name. Please show these people the futility of fighting you. Come and do awesome things today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  4. My father who art in heaven have mercy on the city of derna in Libya. Lord take away their pride and make them humble. Give them the grace to turn back to you at this moment of anguish. Lord there is power in your blood and accordingly I seal the borders of derna with your most precious blood. Lord hedge them with your protection. All the Isis fighters I seal them in the blood of Jesus and pray a blessing on them. Lord give the Isis the grace to turn to you with a repentant heart and forgive them when they call for your mercy. I pray this prayerbin the name of Jesus. Amen.

  5. Dear Father, we pray Jehoshaphat’s prayer–all of it. Please help your people to stand the way Jesus wants us to, and to pray guided by your Spirit, so that we will be in the center of your will. Please let YOUR Kingdom come and your will be done. Please glorify the name of Jesus. We pray in his name. Amen.

  6. ABBA FATHER, THERE IS NO WAY TO EXPRESS THANKFULNESS FOR THE GIFT OF SALVATION, GIVEN BY THE PERFECT LAMB OF YEHOVAH. I PRAY MANY WILL COME TO KNOW YOUR BLESSED ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, YEHOSHUA, WHO BROUGHT AND BOUGHT SALVATION FOR MANKIND. ABBA, THANK YOU FOR THE JOY OF THE LORD, THAT IS GIVEN TO STRENGTHEN US. THANK YOU FOR THE HOPE THAT IS WITHIN YOUR CHILDREN, THAT DAILY RESTORES US TO FELLOWSHIP WITH YOU. BLESS AND ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN AND OUR ENEMIES TO HOLD YOU UP AS THE ONE AND ONLY CREATOR, WORTHY TO BE PRAISED AND WILL ONLY FIND TRUST IN YOU. IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF YEHOSHUA. YEHMEIN

  7. Open the eyes of the Islamist extremists in Derna to the error of their ways I pray, reveal the truth about Christ to them father and turn their hearts to embrace the truth about the Word. They this city will come to the knowledge of the saving grace of Christ Jesus. Amen.

  8. Lord Jesus, please speak to the hearts of the people of Derna. Please reveal the TRUTH of who You are to them. Please let them know how much You love them and how much they need You. Save them, Lord. Let Derna be known as the city that loves You lavishly. On Your Name we ask these things. Amen.

  9. Dear Father, your Word tells us about Nebuchadnezzar and the arrogance he displayed; and how you humbled him, causing him to eat grass like an ox. Eventually he wised up and exalted you. He said, “He does what He wishes with the army of heaven and with those living on earth. No one can hold back His hand or ask Him, ‘What are you doing?’ ”
That’s true, Lord. Please do that for isis and all those trapped in islam. Bring down their pride and bring them to the feet of Jesus, giving him praise and worship. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  10. Dear Father, your ways are perfect. We cry holy, holy, holy. We thank you that your mercies are new morning by morning. We encourage ourselves in you as David did. Please let your people of the Cross do the same today. Bless them. Please bring thousands of muslim refugees to Jesus–for real, not just as a way of getting asylum in Europe. Thank you for what you will do today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  11. Dear Father, shine the Light of Your Son, Jesus Christ, into the spiritual darkness of this sin-weary land! Amen

  12. Dear Lord, you raise kings and government leaders and you cause them to fall. We pray for your touch on Derna. Raise leaders that long for a filling that comes only through your presence. In Jesus’ name.

  13. Oh Lord, I lift up Derna to You. Move among the people in this city. Speak to them in dreams and visions. Show them that You are the only way to eternal life. Raise up Christians. Turn Sauls into Pauls in this city.

  14. Agreeing with all that prayed. Shine your light on Derna. Should there be a faint cry from a Christian, Lord hear their prayer and save them. Save the city for the sake of the handful that love you and have faith in your Son Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name we pray.

  15. Dear Father, the whole earth was corrupted in Noah’s day, and it’s no better now, except for the presence of your Spirit in your people. Noah was able to see the difference between right and wrong; surely these people can see it? Please help them to make right choices–to choose Jesus, truth, love, peace. Please, God. Please help us all to make right choices, and to obey you as Noah did in the midst of the evil of his day. Thank you for your Holy Spirit whom you give to all who ask you. We give you praise and honor in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  16. Dear Father, Your Word says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord raises up a banner against him. I pray that you would do that here. Please come, just as you did when Elisha was praying and you enabled his servant to see the chariots of fire in 2 Kings 6. Please move sovereignly to bring salvation, not only to Derna, but to all those entrapped in islam. We know you are working, even though we can’t see it at the moment. So we give you thanks and praise, in Jesus’ name. AMEN!

  17. Dear Father, we continue to hear of isis “victories” all over. The terror continues and they continue to boast. But you are the same God who answered Hezekiah’s prayer about Sennecharib. The Assyrians boasted that their gods were unstoppable too. Yet one of your angels wiped out 185,000 of their army, and Sennecharib himself. Please have mercy on your people, even though at this time we have no godly or righteous leadership. Please protect your people. Please cause those who have served the false god of islam to turn to you. Please let us fall into your hands, and not into the hands of the evil one. We pray in Jesus’ name, for your glory. Amen.

  18. Father,
I struggle with pride. I know how deceptive it is. How is lulls you into it’s grasp. Father, as you have revealed this sin to me, reveal it to the people of Derna. Give them visions and dreams that disturb their sleep and break their hearts with the evil that pride has sewn in their lives and among their people.
False piety is deceptive. True religion that You accept is care for the widow and the orphan – not to create widows and orphans! I ask this in humility, because I am a sinner in need of a savior, just like all the residents of Derna. Amen

  19. After the news today, even though I finished the 30 day prayer journey, am praying this prayer again. God hasn’t given up on them and we shouldn’t either. He is always faithful. Praying to have faith, even when we can’t see what He’s doing and don’t understand His ways that are higher than ours.

  20. Dear Father, we live near the town that sent out the most soldiers per capita on D-Day to fight for freedom, but these deluded people are fighting for that devilish religion and the destruction of your church and Israel. We appeal to your justice to stop them! We appeal to your mercy to save them. We appeal to you as Jehoshaphat did. We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you. Speak to the women in this town and all the places infested with those who terrorize people in the name of islam. Put your love in them so that they would not want or encourage their men to act like this. Please, Lord, help. Let us hear you say, “the battle is not yours, but God’s.” We pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
